II Cajasol International Composition Competition for Flamenco Symphonic

Following the resounding success of the first edition, which brought together 18 scores from three continents and culminated in a memorable concert at the Cajasol Theatre in Seville, the Cajasol Foundation is taking another step in its commitment to contemporary musical creation with the announcement of the 2nd Cajasol International Composition Competition for Flamenco Symphonic.

Terms and Registration

The competition, organized in conjunction with the International Chair of Flamenco Symphonic and the Rafael Orozco Higher Conservatory of Music of Córdoba, It was born with a clear purpose: to delve into the flamenco tradition in order to project it towards a symphonic horizon, bringing visibility, quality and originality to a repertoire as unique as it is minority.

The works presented They must be flamenco symphonies of more than twelve minutes in length, with the presence of a flamenco singer or singers in some of its movements, and based exclusively in the flamenconot in Spanish or Andalusian music. New to this edition is the inclusion of contemporary or experimental proposals, provided they clearly demonstrate a sense of rhythm. flamenco of the palos employees.

The prize money for the competition amounts to 9.000 euros divided into three categories: the winning work will receive a diploma, 6.000 euros, the publication of the score and the premiere by the OSFE; the extraordinary mention will be recognized with a diploma and 2.000 euros; and the special mention, with a diploma and 1.000 euros.

The submission period will remain open until July 31, 2026., and the scores must be sent by mail to the headquarters of the International Chair of Flamenco Symphonic in Cordoba. The decision will be announced through the Cajasol Foundation website during the first weeks of October 2026, and the awards ceremony will include the premiere of the winning composition and those finalist works that the jury deems appropriate, under the baton of the OSFE director.

With this pioneering initiative, the Cajasol Foundation reaffirms its commitment to the promotion of flamenco as a symbol of Andalusian cultural identity and universal heritage, building bridges between flamenco roots and symphonic music to open new paths of artistic expression
