El National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing, China, has been the place chosen by the Royal Theatre for the organization of the three performances of Flamenco in Fusion: from Coplas to Quixotes, integrated into the 2024 programming of Authentic Flamenco.
The show has the artistic direction of Amador Rojas and they have acted in it Ricardo Fernandez del Moral in musical direction, cante and guitar, and Ofelia Marquez, Amparo Navarro and Marta Serrano, as principal dancers, accompanied by a dance corps of twelve people.
The program has been very varied, composed of sevillanas –Don Quixote's battle with the wineskins–, tangos, alegrías, habaneras, coplas por bulerías, two songs from Federico Garcia Lorca -Lullaby of the Big Horse y Go Jaleo–, or a pile driver.
«Authentic Flamenco China is a vibrant spectacle that fuses the passion of flamenco traditional with two of the most iconic elements of Spanish culture: the most important work of universal literature, Don Quijote of La Mancha, and the poetic and theatrical work of Federico García Lorca. We immerse ourselves in an emotional journey, in which the cante and the guitar have their places of prominence, with an artistic composition in which the dance provides the finishing touch and the different dance techniques are put at the service of art, producing unique and unrepeatable moments on stage," says the Teatro Real itself.
The presence of the Teatro Real in China is part of the collaboration agreements established between the NCPA and the Spanish organization since 2016, and which have been reinforced by the participation of the entity in the International League of Silk Road Theatres.
In 2018 the Teatro Real created in collaboration with SOLARIUM the cycle Flamenco Real, which is currently celebrating its fifth edition with regular performances in its ballroom. And in 2022 it decided to take out international tour the show to the United States (New York, Washington DC and Dallas), India (New Delhi, Chandigarh and Mumbai) and Brazil (Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Brasilia).
In 2023, three international tours took place, bringing the flamenco to fifteen countries in America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Oceania, 38 cities, with more than 400 performances. New York, Dubai, London, Tokyo, Paris, Toronto and Milan are some of the more than fifty cities that Authentic's seven world tours will visit this year.
