In the weeks remaining in October, we are taking a short break from our meetings and presentations to offer some educational sessions, which can be followed in person or in the podcast section of our website, to analyze and study the cante from one of the greatest performers in history, led by our colleague José María Castaño, with free admission at our headquarters and free subscription on our website.

The reason is none other than 150th anniversary commemoration, this 2025, of the birth of Joaquín Fernández Franco, known in art as Joaquin from PaulaThis creator of some soleá variants was born in Alcalá de Guadaira in 1875. An ideal anniversary to approach the legacy attributed to this key figure of the cante of all time. So we invite you to our Classroom Study Podcast Flamencos where we will listen to the most significant recordings that will bring us closer to his legacy.

Here are our activities for this fortnight.

Thursday, October 16, at 18,00:XNUMX p.m. Classroom Podcast 'Study of the soleá of Joaquín el de la Paula' (1): His mark on the slate discsGreat artists such as Manuel Torre, Tomás Pavón, his sister PastoraPepe Pinto, Manuel Vallejo and José Cepero, among others, left their 78 rpm versions.

Tuesday, October 21, at 17,30:XNUMX p.m. Meeting with the teachers Almudena Navarro and Rocío Rosado who are part of the JaleArte project, a cultural association that aims to bring the flamenco to future generations in a fun and accessible way. They will talk to us about their new project entitled 'Currita Núñez, a very flamenco lizard. This is an illustrated and musical album of the flamenco child.

Thursday, October 23, at 18,00:XNUMX p.m. Classroom Podcast 'Study of the soleá of Joaquín el de la Paula' (2): his heyday on vinylThe variations of the Alcalareño became established until they reigned in the microgroove of LPs in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. His immediate relatives, such as Juan Talega and Manolito de María, among others, guided us to their source. Antonio Mairena, for his part, created a veritable anthology, and Manolo Caracol left us with a few gems.

Tuesday, October 28, at 12,00:XNUMX p.m. Interview with Antonio Rey. With the great guitarist from Jerez there was a pending conversation about his second Latin Grammy for his album 'Stories of a FlamencoWe'll also talk about the great season he's currently running at important theaters and his performance at the Tío Pepe Festival in our city.

Thursday, October 30, at 18,00 a.m.. Classroom Podcast 'Study of the soleá of Joaquín el de la Paula' (3): a mark that endures in the digital ageThe arrival of the compact disc and platforms hasn't diminished the recordings that, to this day, demonstrate the indelible legacy of this Alcalá-born artist among more contemporary generations. We'll explore the relevance of his soleá in the most recent masters.
