There is no doubt that Rafael Ramos Antúnez (Jerez de la Frontera, April 27, 1893 – Seville, February 11, 1954) was one of the firm pillars flamencoHe was a singer of sung prayers. Born in the Santiago neighborhood but artistically nurtured in Seville, he bequeathed to us prodigious and highly expressive saetas. The cry of Santiago, sculpted with the chisel of the Sevillian Baroque, one might say.
I begin with the martinete and toná chica as a sonic welcome and, after some brief biographical data, I propose listening to two saetas of Jerez style: 'Había sonao un clarín ronco' and 'Todas las mares tienen pena y amargura' and two others with Sevillian touches: 'Miradle al Señor la cara' and 'Eres guapa y sevillana'.
