SEE SCHEDULE

Madrid, December 2025

The cathedral of flamenco In Spain, the Corral de la Morería is celebrating its 70th anniversary. The Community of Madrid and Teatros del Canal wish to pay tribute with a special program of six flamenco dance performances, running from January 16 to 31, 2026. The stage of the Sala de Cristal will host some of the biggest stars of contemporary flamenco dance: Ana Morales, Belén López, María Moreno, Joaquín Grilo, Marco Flores, and David Coria. In addition, the Carlos Rodríguez Ballet will perform. Flamenco Company has conceived for its second production a piece inspired by the history of the legendary flamenco stage, the flamenco suite moreria, which premieres in the Concha Velasco Red Room.

The Madrid flamenco venue is the oldest and most famous in the world, a global cultural icon. It holds the award for Best Flamenco Venue Flamenco of the world and is the only one whose restaurant has been awarded a Michelin Star. It is also the institution where the most important artists have performed in the history of the flamenco.

Ana Morales will open this special tribute on January 16 with her show More than danceA collection of previously unreleased and curated pieces that travel from minimalism and abstraction to corporatism, in a journey of sounds that transport us to new ways of hearing and listening. flamencoTo achieve this, the dancer uses all the musical and dance possibilities, from the electric bass and drums to the guitar and the metal of the flamenco voice in its most traditional essence.

On January 17, Belén López presents Time, whose choreography is inspired by the rhythm of the palos flamencoyes, its rhythms, its music and its silences.

I danceThe stage adaptation of the photographic book published in 2020 by choreographer and flamenco dancer María Moreno and photographer Susana Girón will premiere on January 23. While the book captures the creative intimacy of the Cádiz-born artist, the performance is presented with the same intimacy: stripped down, without elaborate lighting, featuring “pure and simple dance.”As Moreno states, he will let himself be guided by improvisation.

Joaquín Grilo weaves in cricketOn January 24th, a cheerful and lighthearted work, a modern vision of flamencoBut with respect. Guitar, cante, palmas The dance will revolve around soleá, bulerías…, original flamenco compositions and songs by the musicians themselves.

Flamencos from CadizMarcos Flores' recital on January 30th will take a journey through zorongos, cantiñas, bulerías, siguiriyas, farrucas… with a marked Jerez and Cadiz accent.

The tribute to the Corral de la Morería will conclude on January 31st with David Coria Between lines, which draws on the memory of the great masters of flamenco to question the relevance of its traces in the contemporary body. The performance proposes an open cartography where tradition and the present intersect through a language that blends minimalist refinement with expressive intensity.

In another of the Teatros del Canal venues, the Sala Roja Concha Velasco, Carlos Rodríguez Ballet Flamenco Company premieres its second production, moreria (From January 16 to 18), his own tribute to the Corral de la Morería. It is a conceptual piece, inspired by the history of the legendary Madrid flamenco venue. In its seven scenes, it shows the essence and origin of the establishment, recreating iconic moments of the great figures who performed there and left a mark that shaped flamenco culture.
