Which Sara Baras It's not news that the show has been sold out for weeks, its connection with the International Festival of Cante of the Mines was born almost thirty years ago and since then the admiration has been forged reciprocally.
On the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of his company and with love and respect for the maestro from Algeciras, Fly, A sensory journey created with wisdom, where the audience truly feels, lives, smells and, inevitably, is transported to that world of geniuses and genius that she has invented.
Divided into four movements, Sara Baras represents with Wood the root and the tradition. With March, the passion of Paco de Lucía towards his land. With Death, the transition of grief and emotional loss. And with Fly, the acceptance of that unexpected departure and the joy of having experienced it.
Sara Baras She is no longer a young girl, like the first time she visited La Unión in the late nineties.. He has forged his reputation on stages around the world with shows that we thought were unsurpassable. However, they have not been. We are well aware of his way of understanding the flamenco. And in this show he delves into emotions that have been little explored until now. After the loss of his father and Paco de LucíaSara dances to grief in a profound way. She gives prominence to expression, to silence. How important silence is, how it dances to the absence of music and moves from stillness. The artist from Cadiz has captured that movement that goes from the earthly to the spiritual, she navigates that departure with maturity and love for her loved ones. It is something intimate and natural that unfolds in every minute of the almost two-hour show. A lesson in life and death from one of the best dancers the world has ever produced. flamenco.

Less is more is the tonic that accompanies Vuela FundaciónThis project updates Sara Baras's style in many ways. The first thing that is noticeable is the visual aspect. Simplicity and minimalism serve six strings of light that represent the maestro, overhead with circular shapes, unbridled backlighting, and gloomy backgrounds. Visually and scenographically, it is still powerful, sometimes overwhelming, especially if you add the sensitive aspect. The scent of wood or incense fills the room. Old Public Market turning this flamenco gala into an immersive experience.
The costumes also feature simple lines, without flowing skirts or cloying elements. Trousers, as usual, long trains with bare feet, and fisherman's nets as shawls or garrotes accompany us on this journey through rondeñas, tientos, minera, seguiriya, alegrías, saeta, soleá, tangos, fandangos, and up to fifteen musical pieces. A very complete repertoire. flamenco on all four sides, rich in composition and without unnecessary additives. Once again, the magic of Keko Baldomero Along with some talented musicians, he takes flight from the start. And Matías López sings so well. The Mati, that splendid Miner's Lamp from 2019 that twists the insides.
As for choreography, new forms supported by music and lighting, the potential here is endless. Clean movements, neat turns, and updated performances with group productions, pas de deux, and solo pieces, as always, bordering on excellence in every performance.
The setting somewhat marred the impeccable and relentless dancing, which began late, with an audience that doesn't usually attend shows and doesn't know when to applaud, and facilities that are currently undergoing restoration, meaning the Old Public Market can't boast its usual beauty or adequate sound quality this year.
The presence of Pepe de Lucia The night when Sara Baras, shouting “I love you, La Unión,” said goodbye with a choreographed greeting in the style of Antonio gades, details and luxuries that not everyone can afford, but an artist who makes you fly without moving from your chair has the license to do so. Sara Baras continues to be, no matter how many years go by, her heart and soul at the service of dance. flamenco.
