Miguel Poveda claims the “infinite character” of Federico

The Catalan artist has collaborated with dancers Eva Yerbabuena and Agustín Barajas for the performances on August 21, 22, and 23 in his debut for the Lorca and Granada series.

The singer Miguel Poveda has presented his latest show at the Carlos V Palace in the Alhambra, There were a thousand Federicos, which premieres on August 21st as part of the series Lorca and Granada in the Generalife GardensThe series, managed by the Ministry of Culture and Sport through the Agency of Cultural Institutions, is celebrating its 24th edition with most scheduled performances sold out.

Accompanied by the delegate for Culture and Sport, David Rodriguez, and the manager of the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions, javier rivera, Poveda has spoken about There were a thousand Federicos, a show for which he has had the special collaboration of the dancers Eva Yerbabuena y Agustín BarajasThe performances will take place on August 21, 22, and 23 at 22:00 p.m. at the Generalife Theater.

“There is no single Federico. That is the greatness of this brilliant poet, musician, playwright, draftsman, and enthusiastic lecturer,” says Poveda, who emphasizes “the infinite character of a poet unlike any other, whose interests were not limited to verse. Although he didn't pursue a career in music, everyone recognized his prowess in this discipline, as well as in painting. Many people don't know this, but he even exhibited at the Dalmau Gallery,” the artist lists, referring to the many vocations the Granada-born artist harbored.

Regarding the show he presents in Granada, Poveda considers that “the flamenco, the desperate love song, the overflowing joy of a genius who is still alive will be felt in this Lorca-esque journey on which I will take the public, infecting them with the beauty, passion, social commitment and joy of this unforgettable poet.”

To achieve this, it has relied on a first-class artistic cast such as Joan Albert Amargos at the piano Jesus Guerrero on the guitar, paquito gonzalez leading the percussion, Miguel Ángel Soto Peña 'The Londoner' y The Makarines, cante and palmas, Carlos Grilo, completing the palmas, the battery of Manuel Queen y José Manuel Posada 'Popo' To the bass.

For his part, Javier Rivera expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the program "Lorca and Granada in the Generalife Gardens," which exceeds expectations each year. He also praised the quality of Miguel Poveda's performance, describing him as "one of Spain's greatest artists and one of those closest to the figure of Federico García Lorca."

The delegate for Culture and Sport, David Rodríguez, closed the round of speeches. He highlighted the professionalism of the Catalan artist, as well as the cast of Granada-based artists he has featured, such as Eva Yerbabuena and Agustín Barajas, "two great dancers who will contribute their expertise to the production."

 

24 editions of the cycle

Call me Lorca, the latest show from the company of the Granada-born choreographer and dancer Manuel Linan –on until the 16th– was responsible for opening the twenty-fourth edition of the "Lorca and Granada in the Generalife Gardens" series. The program, run by the Ministry of Culture and Sport and managed by the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions and the Board of Trustees of the Alhambra, began on August 1st and will conclude on the 30th.

The Granada poet and his work have been an inexhaustible source of stage creation in the programming of the series that began in 2002. In recent years, 'Lorca and Granada in the Generalife Gardens' has become one of the benchmarks in the Granada summer calendar, consolidated over its 24 editions as an unmissable event. This is demonstrated by the fact that This year, before the program opened, more than 80 percent of the capacity was filled between direct sales and group reservations.

This year's programming is completed by Aurora Vargas, Lole Montoya and Lela Soto in the proposal Singers August 28th. On the 29th, the event will feature El Pele, Farruquito and Diego del Moraowith the show BalladsFinally, the icing on the cake will be provided by the singer from Jerez Jose Merce, who will close the cycle on August 30 with a recital in which he will pay tribute to his fellow countryman, the composer Manuel Alejandro, covering some of their most iconic songs.
