La Peña Flamenca “El Lucero” hosted this morning the presentation of the 50th edition of the Cata Flamenca, a reference event in the Andalusian cultural calendar that will take place next August 30th in Envidarte, within the programming of the Montilla-Moriles Grape Harvest Festival.
The event was attended by Mayor of Montilla, Rafael Llamas; the delegate of Celebrations, Miguel Sánchez; the president of the Peña Flamenca, Salvador Córdoba; and members of the Montillana Flamenco Association, who have highlighted the importance of this event for local culture and the intangible heritage of the flamenco.
The 50th anniversary commemorative poster, the work of Montilla artist Rafael Rodríguez, This was one of the central points of the presentation. Rodríguez, with a renowned career and a very personal style, captured the essence of the Cata Flamenca in his work, paying homage to the festival's five decades of history.

For his part, the president of the Peña Flamenca, Salvador Córdoba, has underlined the special nature of this edition, in which some of the most relevant figures of the flamenco current: Antonio Reyes, Carmen Linares, El Pele and Antonio Mejías, accompanied on guitar by Paco Cepero, Edu Espín, Salvador Gutiérrez and Niño Seve, and with dancing by Mercedes de Córdoba. “This year we will also have the collaboration of the Festival Cante de Las Minas on our 50th anniversary,” Córdoba highlighted.
A flamenco reference worldwide, such as the Festival Cante from Las Minas, located in La Unión (Murcia), which wanted to support the Peña Flamenca “El Lucero” with the collaboration in its 50th edition and with the delivery of the “Red the Espadrille Maker”, an award that recognizes the work of the peñaflamencos in the preservation and dissemination of flamenco.
Tickets will be on sale in the coming days, both at the offices of the Festivities Department at the Antonio Carpio Cultural Center and online at giglon.com.
The Flamenco Tasting, organized by the Montilla City Council and Peña Flamenca “El Lucero” has the support of the Córdoba Provincial Council, the Andalusian Regional Government, the Montilla-Moriles Regulatory Council, as well as various cooperatives, such as La Unión and La Aurora.
The festival will once again feature Antonio Varo as a presenter and offer a unique evening that promises to be a tribute to flamenco tradition and the audiences who have supported this iconic event for five decades.
